Survey Vessel Solutions

Southern Hydrographic owns and operates the purpose built, dedicated survey vessel "ELAINE". Designed for both multibeam and singlebeam operations, the vessel incorporates a unique moonpool arrangement for the deployment and recovery of sensitive transducer arrays, enabling rapid transit to and from survey areas.

Rapid deployment

Designed with total flexibility in mind, the internal layout of ELAINE is arranged to accommodate industry standard survey equipment with ease. A shock mounted, xx unit 19” equipment rack with a dedicated 2kW 240VAC supply, GPS antenna mounts and easy-run cable conduits are but a few of the many design features that greatly facilitate vessel mobilization.

NZ-wide operations

ELAINE is fully trailerable, enabling rapid deployment throughout NZ including inland waterways and lakes. With an all-up weight of less than 3000 kg, the vessel can be easily towed by a 4WD vehicle.

Crew Options

ELAINE can be hired on a bare-boat charter basis or complete with an experienced vessel master holding as a minimum, an ILM qualification (required for commercial operations by NZ Maritime Regulations).

Safety

Based on the proven Kingfisher design, ELAINE incorporates the most modern safety equipment and holds a Maritime NZ Safe Ship Management Certificate. Constructed of marine grade aluminium, the vessel is built super tough and the cabin is fully enclosed to withstand exposed conditions.
