About Southern Hydrographic

As the name implies, Southern Hydrographic specialises in Hydrographic Surveying. Based in Auckland, we operate NZ-wide providing hydrographic services in support of nautical charting and engineering surveys, from the coastal zone to inland waterways and lakes.

Southern Hydrographic was formed in 2008 by Dave Mundy, a Hydrographic Surveyor with over 20 years experience. His survey career was launched in the early 90's as a Hydrographic sub-specialist officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy, culminating with Command of the ocean going, 68m survey ship HMNZS RESOLUTION. Since retiring from the RNZN in 2008, Dave has worked as a freelance hydrographic surveyor since starting Southern Hydrographic Ltd.

The other key member of the Southern Hydrographic team is Kelly Taylor, who has a background in environmental science. Kelly was employed by the RNZN Hydrographic Office as the Tidal Officer and has since gained experience in local government environmental strategy.

Additional expertise is drawn from a wide range of sources to ensure projects are appropriately resourced.
